
Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s “Tomb Raider” has been ordered to series at Amazon‘s Prime Video.
“Fleabag” creator Waller-Bridge will write and executive produce the show based on the iconic “Tomb Raider” video game franchise, which follows the adventures of archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft.
The series was first reported as being in development at the streamer in January 2023.
Amazon announced the “Tomb Raider” news out of its upfronts presentation Tuesday, which was held at the Pier 36 event space in New York City.

“Phoebe has a lifelong love affair with Lara Croft and as soon and very soon we’ll start the worldwide search for who will play this iconic role and I just can’t wait,” Amazon MGM studios chief Jennifer Salke said from the stage.
The “Tomb Raider” series is being developed under a pact between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios which comes via dj2’s first-look deal with the studio to develop additional “Tomb Raider” stories into series and films.
The series hails from Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios and Legendary Television. Executive producers include Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins through Wells Street Productions, Dmitri M. Johnson through dj2 Entertainment and Michael Scheel. Amanda Greenblatt and Ryan Andolina are consulting producers under their Star Party banner. The series is produced by Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios.
“If I could tell my teenage self this was happening I think she’d explode.,” Waller-Bridge said in a statement released shortly after the news was announced. “‘Tomb Raider’ has been a huge part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all.”

Previously, Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games announced a collaboration to develop and publish a new multiplatform “Tomb Raider” video game. The untitled game is described as “a single-player, narrative-driven action-adventure that is an all new, next chapter to Lara Croft’s legendary explorations in the ‘Tomb Raider’ franchise.”
