“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” will be available on Xbox Game Pass beginning Wednesday, just before the Season 5 launch for the first-person shooter.
The game’s arrival on Game Pass comes on the heels of Xbox increasing the price of its Game Pass subscriptions and limiting availability of content across tiers. Amid those changes, “Modern Warefare III” will only be available for customers subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (the highest-priced tier at $19.99 per month), PC Game Pass ($11.99 per month) and Xbox Game Pass for Console (now retired for new users), not to those with the “Core” tier ($69.99 annually).
Originally released in November 2023, “Modern Warfare III” is developed by Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision, was only previously available as a standalone purchase and not as part of Xbox’s subscription gaming offering.

“Modern Warfare III” is the 20th game in the “Call of Duty” franchise and the third in the “Modern Warfare” reboot sub series.
Per Activision’s description for the game, “Immediately following the events of ‘Modern Warfare II,’ Captain Price, Ghost and the rest of Task Force 141 continue the hunt for ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov, taking them across the world in this gripping single player campaign. I won’t spoil it for you here, but the events that take place will have lasting consequences in the ‘Modern Warfare’ universe.”
The Season 5 downloadable content (DLC) release for “Modern Warfare III” will include: two new Core 6v6 maps, new modes, the final story mission for Zombies, Superstore’s debut in Urzikstan, WWE stars as Operators, as well as new content for “Warzone Mobile,” Season 5 brings an all new Battle Pass, BlackCell offering and Store Bundles.
“Modern Warfare III” hits Game Pass ahead of the Oct. 25 release of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6,” which will be available at launch for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Other features limited to that tier include EA Play membership, Cloud gaming on multiple devices and free monthly “perks” from Microsoft.
