The stars hit the streets of Los Angeles Saturday afternoon for Balenciaga’s much-anticipated fashion show.
Kim Kardashian arrived carrying an Erewhon shopping bag, the latest collaboration between the luxury fashion house and the upscale grocery store.
“This is my purse for the day,” Kardashian told me, explaining that Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia asked her to carry it. “There are flowers in it. I’m going to give them to Demna later.”
One onlooker whispered, “I heard the bags are $1,000.”
Cardi B was a surprise model in the show. Wearing an oversized blue coat, Cardi later joined Teyana Taylor to pose for photographers in the front row.
Another celeb model was 1980s movie icon Brigitte Nielsen.
The show took place on a blocked-off residential street in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Rumor has it that residents on the block were paid $1,000 per house for the inconvenience.
Nicole Kidman worried about getting sunburnt sitting in the front row. “We have to get umbrellas,” she cracked to her “Nine Perfect Strangers” co-star Samara Weaving.
Salma Hayek was in a black dress accented with a hot pink handbag and matching heels. “This is my Balenciaga Barbie,” she said, also pointing to her ponytail.
After the show, Kardashian told me that she loved the Juicy Couture-inspired sweats that opened the show. “It was very, very L.A.,” she said. “The collection was amazing.”
“I loved the black fur off-the-shoulder moment,” Kendall Jenner said.
Joey King, who reunited with her “Kissing Booth” co-star Taylor Zakhar Perez in a big embrace, gushed over wearing Balenciaga. “I always get so excited when I get to wear Balenciaga,” she said. “Every time, I feel sexy but not in a basic boring way. I feel sexy in this very cool elevated way. It’s chic.”
Invites for the show, which featured the fall 2024 collection, included hand-delivered Balenciaga power bar paperweights. Post-parties are set to include an early evening cocktail soiree and a late-night bash hosted by Cardi B.
